Road dog

So, for the last weekend I was working as a guitartech for Stratovarius. Their regular guy couldn't make it so they called me, and as it was something I had never done before I thought it was something one should try, if only for shits and giggles and to be able to add that to my CV :) Now I'm richer for the experience and appreciate guitartechs more than I did before. It's insanely hard and stressful job, but also kinda fun :) Of course on Saturday I managed to bust my face open, but these things happen and it wasn't anything serious.

Some pics of my latest ventures, for your viewing "pleasure" :

A new venture and a new add-on for your C.V. Hope the wound heals soon enough. Thanks for the share. Cheers!

    1. Sorry, I wasn't clear enough! I mean, if you had to synthetize in a single sentence what are the job's duties, what would you say? I've always been wondering about this role, I never got to figure out precisely what is a guitartech supposed to do, apart from being around and checking if guitars are in right place and working properly. You're talking of it like it's an heavier job than I thought!

  6. IF I understood correctly, it's "If you had to sum up the job...?" :)

  8. Hey Jani, I hope you can come to Argentina with Cain's Offering. The first time Sonata Arctica came here was in 2008 and I never had the opportunity to see you playing live :(
I play drums since I was 4 and drums were all for me, until you came inspiring me to play guitar. Now I'm 22 and your music is still the reason why I play guitar (even though I'm not as good as you and I still play drums :P)
Now that Cain's Offering is rocking again I have faith that all will go forward and maybe you will come to South America. Would you like to come here? Lots of people loves you and I'm shure you'll have a great time with us :D
PD: if you can't come with Cain's Offering Im pretty shure that you can come as the Stratovarius Official Guitartech :P

  9. Ouch, hope that heals quickly. But you got a hell of a view of the stage at least!

Jani, I hope you can somehow bring Cain's Offering to the USA, be it in CD or live form or whatever form. Because I can't find the CD anywhere and it's bumming me out.

    2. Well, it was pretty much a joke, I'm not planning on changing carreers :) Besides, if Alexi Laiho can be a guitartech for Kotipelto-band why can't I be one for Stratovarius? :)

    3. of course you can, I support you ;)

    4. Yea? But Laiho's only half your size, he's more suitable sneaking between the equipments

    5. A collaboration between you and Alexi Laiho would be the most interesting one possible. You guys have such different styles and approaches that a project where you'd work together would be absolutely priceless. I am sure you'd work smoothly as guitarists but it would be the coolest thing to discover the combination between your love-oriented lyrics and Alexi's dark and hateful ones.

  14. You've done a lot of cool stuff with the Strato guys as of late (:
Arround 2008, was there any talk about you becoming their guitarist before Matias joined?
Of course, that's not really important right now, but I'm just really curious.
